The project includes the general renewal of two road bridges crossing the Otava River in Zátaví, near the town of Písek. PORR carried out the comprehensive bridge reconstruction. The original bridge was built in 1927 and was in poor condition. Therefore it had to be completely renovated. However, the original character of the bridge was to be preserved. After all, it was a historic building that was located right on the demarcation line after the Second World War. In order to preserve its historical character, the PORR team erected, among other things, a handmade cyclopean masonry. From a technical point of view, the project was particularly demanding, not least because work had to be carried out at great heights above the river. In addition, a wide variety of technologies were used.
The award was presented on 25 April 2019 during the opening part of the 24th International Symposium Mosty 2019 (Bridges 2019) in Brno. The award was accepted by Pavel Hirsch, Director of the Bohemia - Central Region Division, on behalf of PORR a.s.
