"The newly built lane will help public transport vehicles between the Dostihová and Barrandovský most stops. It is more than two and a half kilometres long and, in addition to buses, it will also be used by the Integrated Rescue System. The widening was achieved by adjusting the slopes and at the same time building 1.5 kilometres of new retaining walls and new utility relocations, including drainage. We used noise-reducing asphalt in the area of the construction so that traffic would be less of a nuisance to residents," said Petr Škvařil, director of the Bohemia-Centre division, that was in charge of the project at PORR. "In addition, pedestrians will also get new sidewalks and an underpass," Škvařil added.
The shortening of the construction time was achieved also thanks to the fact that over the Easter holidays traffic will be diverted to one lane only, thanks to which the road surface in the middle and fast lanes will be repaired.
PORR workers will follow up the completion of this construction with the start of the long-awaited reconstruction of the Barrandov Bridge. It will start with the repair of the southern bridge deck, which is also connected with the replacement of the ramp from Strakonická Street.
