Training on solid foundations.
A modern educational institution extended to seven floors: this is the new and in the Czech Republic unique simulation workstation (SIMU) at the University Campus Brno. Medical students receive their practical training there. We have built the best infrastructure for it.
Our local teams divided the project into two construction phases. At first, the excavation pits had to be secured. This was done in Brno with the aid of the so-called Berlin shoring, where we enclosed the excavation pit with pile walls and a girder sheeting wall.
In total, our colleagues carried out more than 1,650 linear metres of drilling and strutting. This resulted in a total area of 1,350 m2 of formwork construction.
To ensure the stability of the structure, we secured it with partly temporary and partly permanent two to five-strand rock anchors with a total length of 1,023 running metres.
The second construction project was the deep foundation of the training hospital on 76 large bored piles. In total, our teams had to drill more than 1,450 running metres of shafts. Most of these were bored piles with a diameter of DN 1,200 mm and a length of 26 m. This took us to the limit of the technical possibilities of the PORR special foundations department in the Czech Republic.
