Žižkovské pavlače offers a total of 141 flats or studios with layouts ranging from 1 bedroom to 4 bedrooms; however, the complex also includes commercial and non-residential premises located mainly on the ground floors of the buildings. Two of the buildings are over 100 years old, so sensitive renovation was necessary.
“One of the project's objectives was to preserve the original historical character of the two buildings, which would fit in with the surrounding architecture of Žižkov. We thus provided replicas of the entrance doors, windows, original paving or railings from the early 20th century," explained Jaroslav Koutenský, the project manager. "The façade of the buildings was also restored, including stucco decorations and plumbing elements - all under the close supervision of the National Heritage Institute and Prague´s Heritage Department," added Koutenský, adding that the reconstruction of the complex also included extensions to the last floors of the buildings.
Future residents will also benefit from the fact that Žižkovské pavlače are an environmentally and energy friendly building thanks to the use of modern technologies during construction.
